Oh, Crap!

We've had a wobbly toilet...for quite some time now. And what better way to celebrate the end of March than by fixing the wobble. Really what this should have entailed is nothing more than a quick tightening of the bolts holding the toilet to the floor. But as often happens in this awesome house, the job would not be as easy as expected. One of the bolts was completely rusted solid. This means two things, (1) I couldn't tighten or loosen said bolt and (2) moisture had made it to the bolt at some point.

The toilet in question was the one in the master bathroom. We also decided that the toilet in the hall bathroom was probably in a similar shape, sans wobble, but that we'd wait on that repair until we were successful with the first. So, I headed to Lowes to fill my ark of toilet repair supplies for both commodes: two wax seals, two sets of toilet bolt caps, two sets of tank to bowl bolts. Oh, and some reinforced metal cutting wheels for my old Dremel knock-off.

Second attempt threw a lot of sparks but was a success.

There's something very Hulk-like about lifting a toilet off the floor by yourself. Once we got the new wax ring in place, we carefully put the toilet back in place and I got to work putting it back together. It is awfully convenient that toilets come with this nice seat on which to sit while reattaching the tank. 

Mission accomplished.
